PowerPoint purgatory?

About

Love them or loathe them, presentations are an essential part of business communication.

And whilst most people sit squarely in the 'loathe them' (or worse) camp, presentations are a rare opportunity to really engage with busy, easily-distracted people on a level that other channels can't.

But the humble presentation has been badly abused, to the point where the prospect of delivering one (or sitting through half a day of them) sends most of us into a blind panic.

It doesn't have to be this way ...

You're the star, not

your slides.

Slides packed with bullet points and mind-numbingly complex diagrams aren't going to get your message across (even with a bit of creative animation).

In fact, the main message you'll convey with this approach is "I didn't have time to prepare a decent presentation, so try to read the meandering text I've crammed onto some slides while listening to me repeat the same words out loud."

Effective presentations are about people telling powerful stories. They have a clear, compelling narrative with strong supporting visuals. They place complex data into context that people can quickly understand.

If you're sweating over a high-stakes presentation, I can ease your PowerPoint pain.

Starting with a blank sheet of paper, I'll identify and organise the key components of your message into a punchy, persuasive storyline.

With the narrative nailed, it's time to create some powerful supporting visuals. That's because humans are great at remembering pictures - research shows that we only recall around 10% of a piece of information we hear, but this increases to 65% when a visual is added.

Sure, you could cobble a few slides together yourself a lot faster - but if that sale / investment / promotion is hinging on your presentation, it's worth doing it brilliantly.
